With this height range weight is ideally anywhere between about 85 and 130 lbs and depends heavily on muscle and bone mass. Male performers are naturally taller stronger and heavier. In many performances a ballerina has to be lifted by another performer. The ideal height ranging from 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 8 inches.
Their height is also important. One company i know has their lead female principal dancer at a height of 184 cm. However in europe some companies require females to be no taller than the traditional 165cm while others have a minimum height of 173cm. Most ballerinas are between about 5 foot 3 inches and 5 foot 8 inches tall. Contemporary dance is a bit more lenient in regard to height and weight but cabaret prefers tall girls about 58 being the norm. For classical ballet the ideal is a light build with leg length half the body height and arm span about the same as height which should be between 53 and 55.
Theres nothing more exposing of your physique than classical ballet. The ideal weight for a 174cm 57ft tall girl is 498kg 1098lb the ideal weight for a 168cm 55ft tall girl is 457kg 100lb the ideal weight for a 155cm 5ft tall girl is 37kg 815lb weight fluctuation allowed for girls over 170cm 55ft tall. Its about extension proportion height all the genetic stuff. 2kg 44lb weight fluctuation allowed for girls under 169cm 55ft tall. Ultimately i want my dancers to look athletic healthy and muscular. Back in the 1970s dancers were super duper thin.
Most ballet companys average height for a female is approximately 167cm.
